“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the [nations], that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” Acts 13:48, ESV
Jesus summed up His purpose in coming into the world by saying He “came to seek and to save that which was lost.” Because this is Jesus’ focus, it has become our focus too. Our mission involves helping people come into a restored relationship with God through Jesus, and to develop a vibrant faith in Him. We do this through worship, teaching, community and social action — in other words, we do this though our lives. We believe that every Christian is called to live out the Gospel in this world. This means that every part of our life (from what vocation we choose, to what neighbourhood we live in, to how we spend our spare time) is intentionally used to allow us to communicate the message of Jesus as effectively as we can to those around us.
As a church, one specific focus which we believe God has opened to us is our ministry of University engagement. As a church on campus, we have a unique opportunity to reach students, and particularly international students who will be returning home and can then impact their home communities with the Gospel. Recognizing this opportunity, we’re committed to having a presence on campus, and we try to bring Christian students on campus into contact with one another and encourage them to positively engage the wider University community and culture as followers of Jesus.
